Horrified neighbours told the Sun the three people were attacked when a ‘stranger’ knocked on their door and chucked the substance.

Someone else told the newspaper: ‘Apparently a stranger knocked on their door, they opened and were attacked.’

Following the attack, locals in the area were advised to stay indoors as police attended to the injured, according to reports on social media.

A spokesman for the Met said: ‘An investigation is underway following an incident in Colindale where a corrosive substance was thrown.

‘No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
