Lettuce price Australia: Popular vegetable soars by 2,300 per cent

Cafes and restaurants are facing potential ruin as the cost of raw ingredients like green beans soar from $1 a kilo at market to a budget-blowing $240 for a 10kg tray.

That amounts to a 2,300 per cent increase, with the price of beans soaring from $1 a kilo wholesale to $24 a kilo.
