England have secured another gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after winning the men’s squash doubles.

James Willstrop and Declan James beat fellow England pair Daryl Selby and Adrian Waller 11-3 7-11 11-9 at the University of Birmingham squash centre in what was a spirited tie between team-mates.

The winning duo weren’t afraid to show their delight after the game, embracing upon the realisation of their achievement.

After a dominant start from Willstrop and James, Selby and Waller came back well to square things up after two games.

But Willstrop and James edged out their countrymen in the final game, winning by two points before the crowd congratulated both sets of players.

All four men high-fived the England coaches after coming off the court, despite the disappointment clearly on show from Selby and Waller.

Willstrop and James’ gold ensured they beat the bronze they won at the 2018 games in Australia.

Meanwhile, Sarah-Jane Perry and Alison Waters picked up a silver medal for England, losing in the women’s doubles final to New Zealand.

They were defeated 11-8 11-8 by defending champions Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy.
