USMNT youngster Konrad de la Fuente completes loan move from Marseille to Olympiacos as ex-Barcelona man targets making the World Cup squad
US winger Konrad de la Fuente will be looking to breathe life into his World Cup dreams after completing a loan move to Greek side Olympiacos from Marseille.
The 21-year-old struggled to make an impact at the French club last season scoring once and providing three assists in 22 appearances.
As per the terms of the deal it will see the ex-Barcelona product spend the 2022-23 season in Piraeus.

De la Fuente’s season ended earlier than most, succumbing to knee surgery in early April.
The Miami native will hope to rejuvenate his form in Greece. More playing time will prove fruitful in his pursuit of a place in Gregg Berhalter’s World Cup squad.
Wales in November of 2020 was De la Fuente’s last appearance for the USMNT.
In total he has played three times for the Stars and Stripes.
Konrad, as he is otherwise known, was the first American to appear for the LaLiga giants
De la Fuente was last with the US team for the January World Cup qualifier against El Salvador. He was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win.
At the age of 10, De la Fuente moved to Spain with his family before joining Barcelona’s youth academy in 2013.
He made three appearances for the Catalan club, twice in the Champions League and another in the Copa del Rey.
De la Fuente’s first chance to impress will come against Cypriot side Apollon Limassol during Thursday’s Europa League playoff first leg.
